Three months is a short window for NEET PG preparation. It is enough — students have cleared with top ranks starting from this point — but it requires a different approach than the 12-month plan. You do not have time to cover everything from scratch. You have time to cover the right things, practice them until the recall is reliable, and simulate the exam format until it feels familiar.

This plan is built for August 30, 2026. It assumes you have some foundation across subjects from MBBS — not perfect recall, but basic exposure. It assumes you can dedicate 6 to 8 focused hours per day. And it is built around the new five-section locked format, which means the mock test schedule is not optional.

How to Use This Plan

Three principles govern everything below.

PYQs are the primary content. Do not start a subject with a textbook or a lecture. Start with previous year questions for that subject. Work through them, read every explanation, and let the gaps in your knowledge show you what you need to go deeper on. This is faster and more exam-relevant than any other approach.

Every subject stays warm after you cover it. For each subject you complete, 10 to 15 revision questions per week from that point forward. This prevents the decay that destroys aspirants who study systematically but forget earlier subjects by exam day.

One full mock per week, every week, from Week 3 onwards. The mock is not optional. Review the entire test after each one. The analytics — which subjects you are weak in, where you ran out of time — adjust the week's focus going forward.

Month 1 — Weeks 1 to 4: High-Weightage Clinical Subjects

The first month is entirely on the subjects that carry the most marks. There is no room for lower-weightage subjects in Month 1. You cannot afford to spend time on Forensic Medicine when General Medicine is worth four times more marks.

Week 1 — General Medicine (including Dermatology and Psychiatry)

General Medicine is the single highest-weightage subject in NEET PG. Start here.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 30 PYQ questions from General Medicine, timed (aim for under 90 seconds each)
  • Study block: Topic-by-topic coverage prioritising high-yield areas — cardiology, nephrology, endocrinology, infectious diseases
  • Evening: 20 questions from a mixed topic set to warm up other subjects

High-yield General Medicine topics for 2026: Cardiology (ECG reading, heart failure, arrhythmias), Nephrology (CKD, electrolyte disorders), Infectious diseases (HIV, tuberculosis, malaria management updates), Endocrinology (diabetes complications, thyroid disorders).

Dermatology (under Medicine): Morphology-based questions, common PYQ scenarios — bullous disorders, leprosy classification, psoriasis management.

Psychiatry (under Medicine): ICD criteria, drug mechanisms and side effects, ECT indications.

Week 1 target: Complete high-yield General Medicine PYQs from the last 8 years. Accuracy target for end of week: 55 to 60 percent.

Week 2 — General Surgery

General Surgery is the second highest-weightage clinical subject. Cover it immediately after Medicine while clinical thinking is activated.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 30 Surgery PYQs
  • Study block: Surgical anatomy, common surgical conditions, operative steps for high-yield procedures
  • Evening: 10 General Medicine revision questions (keep Week 1 warm)

High-yield Surgery topics: Hernias (types, complications, repair), thyroid and parathyroid surgery, colorectal cancer, breast surgery, surgical anatomy of triangles and spaces, burns management, trauma and shock.

Laparoscopic procedures appear increasingly in recent papers — know the steps and potential complications for cholecystectomy, appendicectomy, and inguinal hernia repair.

Week 2 target: Surgery PYQs from last 8 years. Accuracy target: 50 to 55 percent (Surgery tends to start lower — image-based questions are harder without visual practice).

Week 3 — Obstetrics and Gynaecology, plus your first full mock

OBG is consistently high-yield and rewards systematic PYQ practice. The concepts repeat across cycles with high reliability.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 30 OBG PYQs
  • Study block: Obstetrics (antenatal care, labour management, obstetric emergencies) then Gynaecology (PCOS, infertility, cervical cancer screening)
  • Evening: 15 Medicine and 10 Surgery revision questions

High-yield OBG topics: Management of pre-eclampsia and eclampsia, indications for caesarean section, contraception (mechanism and failure rates), gynaecological malignancy staging, infertility investigations and management.

End of Week 3 — take your first full mock. This is your baseline. Do not expect a strong score. The purpose is data — which subjects are you strongest in, which sections ran long, where is your accuracy weakest. Review every wrong answer the same day.

Check your score against the 720-mark scale. If your baseline is significantly below your target, increase the daily question volume in your weakest subjects from Week 4 onwards.

Week 4 — Paediatrics and Pathology

Cover these together because they share significant conceptual overlap and both are consistently high-yield.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 20 Paediatrics PYQs and 20 Pathology PYQs
  • Study block: Alternate days — Paediatrics one day, Pathology the next
  • Evening: 10 each from Medicine, Surgery, OBG rotation

High-yield Paediatrics topics: Growth and development milestones (most frequently tested topic in this subject), neonatal conditions (jaundice, respiratory distress, sepsis), immunisation schedule and cold chain, nutritional deficiencies.

High-yield Pathology topics: Tumour markers, inflammatory cell morphology, wound healing mechanisms, specific tumour classifications (WHO classification for CNS tumours, lymphoma classification).

Month 2 — Weeks 5 to 9: Tier 2 Subjects with Active Rotation

Month 2 covers the pharmacology, microbiology, and basic science subjects while keeping all Month 1 subjects warm through daily revision questions.

Week 5 — Pharmacology

Pharmacology is one of the highest-yield subjects in NEET PG relative to the time required to prepare it. The same drug classes appear repeatedly.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 30 Pharmacology PYQs
  • Study block: Drug mechanisms, adverse effects, drug interactions — in that priority order
  • Evening: 10-question rotation across all four Month 1 subjects

High-yield Pharmacology: Autonomic pharmacology (adrenergic and cholinergic drugs), antihypertensives (mechanisms and specific indications), antibiotics (spectrum, mechanism, resistance), antiepileptics (especially newer drugs and teratogenicity), chemotherapy principles.

Drug adverse effects are more heavily tested than drug mechanisms in recent cycles. Know the distinctive adverse effects for every major drug class.

Week 6 — Microbiology

Microbiology rewards pattern learning. The same organisms, the same tests, the same virulence factors appear cycle after cycle.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 30 Microbiology PYQs
  • Study block: Bacteria (systematic by gram stain and morphology), then viruses, then parasites
  • Evening: 10-question rotation across Month 1 subjects

High-yield Microbiology: Laboratory diagnosis methods (specific tests for specific organisms — this is the most tested topic area), Clostridium species and toxins, sexually transmitted infections, COVID-related questions (emerging in recent papers), viral hepatitis serology interpretation.

Week 7 — Physiology and Biochemistry

Cover these together. Physiology and Biochemistry are heavily conceptual but reward PYQ practice because the same physiological principles appear in clinical question stems.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 15 Physiology and 15 Biochemistry PYQs
  • Study block: Alternate between the two subjects daily
  • Evening: Rotation across all covered subjects

High-yield Physiology: Cardiac physiology (pressure-volume loops, Starling's law), renal tubular physiology (which segment reabsorbs what), respiratory physiology (V/Q mismatch, spirometry values), endocrine feedback loops.

High-yield Biochemistry: Enzyme kinetics (Michaelis-Menten, competitive versus non-competitive inhibition), metabolic pathways (glycolysis, TCA cycle, fatty acid oxidation — specifically the regulated steps and the clinical consequences of enzyme deficiencies), molecular biology basics (restriction enzymes, PCR, blotting techniques).

End of Week 7 — second full mock. Compare this mock to Week 3. You should see accuracy improvement in Month 1 subjects (Medicine, Surgery, OBG, Paediatrics, Pathology). If you do not, the daily rotation questions are not adequately maintaining recall — increase the volume for those subjects.

Week 8 — Anatomy

Anatomy is a subject many aspirants avoid because of its volume. Do not try to cover all of Anatomy. Cover high-yield Anatomy.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 30 Anatomy PYQs from recent cycles
  • Study block: Surgical and clinical anatomy only — anatomy as it appears in clinical questions
  • Evening: Full rotation across all covered subjects

High-yield Anatomy: Applied anatomy for common surgical approaches (inguinal canal, axilla, popliteal fossa), nerve injury landmarks, blood supply of clinically important structures, embryological derivatives.

Histology within Anatomy: Same approach — only what appears in PYQs, cross-referenced with Pathology for common overlap questions.

Week 9 — Forensic Medicine and Wrap-Up

Forensic Medicine is low individual weightage but highly predictable. The same questions recur with higher frequency than almost any other subject. Three to four weeks of Forensic Medicine PYQs give strong returns.

Daily structure:

  • Morning: 25 Forensic Medicine PYQs
  • Study block: Medico-legal cases, causes of death, wound examination, toxicology
  • Evening: Full rotation

High-yield Forensic Medicine: Signs of different manners of death, decomposition stages, medico-legal aspects of consent and negligence, toxicology (organ-specific poisons and their antidotes), examination of sexual assault cases.

Month 3 — Weeks 10 to 13: Tier 3 Subjects, Revision, and Exam Simulation

The final month is divided: early weeks cover remaining subjects, late weeks shift entirely to mock tests and revision.

Week 10 — ENT, Ophthalmology, and Anaesthesia

Cover these three together because they individually have lower weightage but together represent a meaningful portion of marks. Each subject: 20 to 25 PYQs per day, high-yield topics only.

ENT high-yield: Audiological tests (tuning fork tests — Weber, Rinne, Absolute Bone Conduction), common surgeries and their landmarks, vertigo causes and management.

Ophthalmology high-yield: Intraocular pressure and glaucoma, retinal conditions (diabetic retinopathy staging, retinal detachment management), common drugs used in ophthalmology and their side effects.

Anaesthesia high-yield: Local anaesthetic mechanisms and toxicity, stages of general anaesthesia, commonly tested drug dosages, management of malignant hyperthermia.

Week 11 — Radiology and Orthopaedics

Radiology: Focus on x-ray and CT pattern recognition in PYQ questions. Common findings for high-yield conditions — TB patterns, fracture types on x-ray, emergency CT findings (extradural versus subdural haematoma appearance).

Orthopaedics high-yield: Fracture eponyms and their mechanisms, compartment syndrome, common orthopaedic conditions in children (developmental dysplasia of hip, Perthes disease, slipped upper femoral epiphysis), nerve injuries associated with specific fractures.

Weeks 12 and 13 — Full Exam Simulation Mode

No new content in the final two weeks. This is exclusively revision and mock tests.

Week 12 schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday: Full mock test (all five sections, 42 minutes each, locked format)
  • Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday: Complete review of previous mock plus high-yield note revision

Week 13 schedule, the final week before the exam:

  • Monday: Full mock
  • Tuesday: Full mock review
  • Wednesday: Subject-by-subject weak area revision (use analytics from all previous mocks)
  • Thursday: High-yield note revision only — no new questions
  • Friday: Light review of notes, sleep before exam
  • Saturday: Exam day — August 30

Daily Schedule Template

For the full three months, structure each day like this:

  • 6:30 to 7:00 AM — Morning PYQ session (TROCAR or equivalent, 15 to 20 questions in one subject, timed)
  • 7:00 to 9:00 AM — Main study block (current primary subject: content, PYQs, notes)
  • 9:00 to 9:15 AM — Break
  • 9:15 to 11:15 AM — Continuation of main study block
  • 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM — Rotation revision (10 questions each in two previously covered subjects)
  • 12:00 to 1:00 PM — Lunch and rest
  • 1:00 to 3:00 PM — Section-length timed practice (36 questions, 42 minutes, no pausing)
  • 3:00 to 3:15 PM — Break
  • 3:15 to 5:15 PM — High-yield note review and weak topic study
  • 5:15 to 6:00 PM — Rest
  • 6:00 to 7:00 PM — Mock test section review or a second rotation session
  • Evening — Rest. Do not study beyond 8 PM if you started at 6:30 AM.

Tracking Your Progress

Three numbers to track every week:

Overall mock test score — should trend upward across the three months.

Accuracy by subject — use mock analytics. Any subject consistently below 50 percent accuracy in mock tests needs more rotation questions.

Section pacing — are you running out of time within any specific section? If yes, the problem is not speed, it is uncertainty. More PYQ practice in that section's subject matter reduces hesitation time per question.

Yes, for aspirants who have completed MBBS and have basic subject exposure. Three months of structured, daily practice with strong mock test frequency can move rank significantly. It requires 6 to 8 focused hours per day and consistent daily practice with no weeks off.

A minimum of one per week from Week 3 onwards, increasing to two per week in the final month. That is approximately 12 to 15 full-length mocks over the three months. Quality of review matters more than quantity — a mock you do not review thoroughly is a wasted session.

In a 3-month window, new content is rarely the problem. Most aspirants have enough material. The gap is usually in practice volume and mock test frequency. Before buying anything new, ask whether you have systematically worked through the PYQs you already have access to.

For subjects with zero coverage, allocate one to two days maximum of high-yield PYQ study. Do not attempt comprehensive coverage of an uncovered subject in a 3-month window — the time cost is too high. Cover the top 30 to 40 most-repeated questions in that subject and move on.

One mock on Monday, full review on Tuesday, weak area revision based on all previous analytics Wednesday, high-yield note review Thursday, rest on Friday. Do not attempt new content in the final week. Your brain needs consolidation time, not new information.
